StepUp

The more we work with God, the more we learn how God connects everything to see something happen and this was our experience in starting this new project.  As an organisation, we had felt God calling us to work with street children in Uganda.  Children who had no options.  Immediately when we thought naturally about what street children looked like, we went to the town to explore.  We were bombarded with children in our face asking for food or money.  Immediately we knew these children were not invisible and so were not who God was calling us to.  We found our invisible children through the simple act of obedience of a 9 year old child.  We were at a village Primary School running an outreach and when we asked God who He wanted us to pray for - Jack felt to pray for children with no parents - 30 children raised their hand.  This was the beginning of what StepUp was going to look like.  After speaking with the Principal and hearing she had told God two weeks earlier that this was too difficult for her and she was going to have to shut the school unless he sent help - we knew this was God's mission!
Within a week of discovering these children, we had found a youth worker to mentor them, a property to rent to begin a home for those with no home and a house mother to run the home.  It was like God already had all the dots, we just needed to join them.  Within a month of the programme running change was noted in several of the children as they discovered they were loved and we are expectant to watch these children grow into future leaders.
