Footsteps Northern Uganda
Footsteps is a project working with those who have experienced trauma in Northern Uganda as a result of the LRA. We want to see people set free and restored in relationship with God and others and families and communities growing and seeing God's goodness.
KEY FOCUS
- Gifts of the Holy Spirit - use of the gifts in everyday setting to bring God's transforming power into life
- Transformation - we are each on a journey of transformation through relationships.
- Family and Community - we live in family and contribute to something bigger than ourselves.
- Salvation, Healing and Deliverance - God's Presence and Power brings life, healing and sets people free.
- Faith - we rise in faith to see the manifestation of God's goodness moment by moment.
PROCESS
- Mentoring and Breakthrough Prayer
Individual mentoring and breakthrough prayer with formerly abducted child soldiers and family members affected by the LRA is facilitated by staff members. As relationships and trust is built and Jesus is invited into areas of each ones lives to bring healing and freedom, we see people released into God's good future for them and the communities transformed.
- Community Outreach
Monthly community outreach in each of the each target villages (Adwari and Abako), as the leaders go out and are led by God to meet people and restore then in relationship with God and others. The families visited in the first instance will be ones we are already in relationship with - those who have been affected by the LRA, but will then flow out as we see transformation and relationships build.
- Family Days
Family days are a way for the community to come together to share, grow and learn and occur monthly in Adwari and Abako. Each family day will have a morning programme of testimony, praise and worship, teaching and a shard lunch. (Using the Footsteps Programme) The afternoon programme may include small groups such as: discipleship cells, community gardens, parenting courses and income generating projects.
