House of Aroha

House of Aroha is a family home for 23 children.  Honour, relationships, healing, family and faith are the foundation the home is built on.  Children know who they are, released into their destiny and contribute to something bigger than themselves.
Key Focus
Relationships - people are completely loved, know who they are and are released into their destiny.
Family - we live in family and contribute to something bigger than ourselves.
Healing - God's Presence and Power brings healing and sets people free.
Faith - we rise in faith to see the manifestation of God's goodness moment by moment.

Process
Care in Home Environment
Children live in a family environment with mother and father at the House of Aroha and are cared for as a child of God and a valuable and contributing member of the household.
Mentoring
Each child has a mentor as part of the Step Up programme and is on a journey of developing their strengths and character and finding their place of contribution in their community.
Family Time
The home operates like a family. The family have time together, enjoying being family, developing the strengths and celebrating the contribution each one makes to family. This is often based around family routines such as meal times, helping around the home, bedtimes, prayer and worship times and family play times.
Education
We partner with St Paul's School in Namulesa for schooling.  Each primary-aged child attends the school and the StepUp Programme is based there.  In 2012 we have our first child at secondary level and we will be exploring secondary options.
